Weligama Bay Resort

Weligama Bay Resort is a luxury boutique hotel with 24 rooms, suites and garden villas is situated on a beautiful sandy beach in the middle of Weligama Bay. The hotel is owned and managed by Czechs. Its advantageous position at the southern tip of Sri Lanka enables all-year round swimming and water activities and trips to a number of interesting places in its surroundings. From November to April it is one of the best places in the world to see blue whales, sperm whales and dolphins. Safari in national parks Yala and Uda Walawe provide amazing views of wild animals including leopards and elephants.The Weligama Bay is also a renowned surfing location, so good waves and a fine sandy bottom without any rocks or corals await both fans and beginners of this sport.

Accommodation

Weligama Bay Resort is situated in the middle of a tropical garden directly on the Indian Ocean beach. Twenty four spacious luxury rooms, suites and garden villas are furnished using exclusively local natural materials. Stone

paths from the main building lead to the beach restaurant, swimming pool and garden villas. Top-class amenities include LCD TV, DVD player, Internet connection, electric safebox, minibar, individual air-conditioning and overhead fans. All rooms have their own terrace with a seaview. The hotel

also has a 70 square meters meeting room which is equipped with modern audiovisual technology and is suitable for training courses, seminars and corporate events.

Spa

The Bawana Spa offers full and partial body treatments based on the traditional ayurvedic massages and aromatherapy. You can indulge yourself in healing ayurvedic treatments such as full body massage, thermo massage and shirodara or you can be pampered with scented treatments such as coconut full body scrub, avocado body mask, beauty facial etc. Our spa´s elixirs are composed of fresh local ingredients including aloe vera, avocado, coconut, curd, papaya and red rice. They are all mixed just moments before the treatment and therefore no chemicals nor preservatives are used.

Gastronomy

Our restaurant Cutty Sark is situated directly on the beach and offers beautiful views of the sea and the sunset. The interior of the restaurant was inspired by the world-famous clipper Cutty Sark which carried tea from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) to England in the 19th century. We offer specialities of local cuisine such as varieties of rice and curry, fresh fish and seafood as well as western food and other delicacies depending on seasonal availability and wishes of our guests. All meals are carefully prepared from local fresh quality food. The beverage menu contains a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, cocktails, fresh fruit juices, selection of wines from around the world and the tasty local draught lager Lion beer.You can also enjoy a selection of first-class Ceylon teas and delicious Nespresso coffees.

Leisure Time

Guests can enjoy private swimming pool, a separate paddling pool for children and a beach volleyball court. Guests may learn how to surf from our experienced instructors. The hotel has its own sports equipment for hire: surfboards, body surfs, balls etc. We can arrange diving courses both for beginners and advanced divers and snorkelling boat trips. City tours in the vicinity include visits to Galle Fort (UNESCO World Heritage), Matara Fort, white tea plantation, snake and turtle farm, batik factory, spice and herbal garden, famous Unawatuna and Mirissa beaches as well as famous national parks Yala and Uda Walawe and rain forest Sinharaja.
